Cazares and Lee’s other drivers are looking forward to the Oktoberfest at the racetrack, which will be Oct. 21-23. She was fifth in the Oktoberfest last fall in one of the handful of events she ran at Lee last year. Cazares plans to run fulltime again at Lee next year and also to run limited races on the American Canadian Tour.

| Kayla has always been a fan of her grandparents, just as much as they are fans of her. In fact Kayla holds her grandparents in very high regard. She always has and she always will.
The fact that Grampy Cazares is a veteran of two wars makes him that much more special to Kayla. “He’s not just a hero to me, he’s a hero to America, that’s cool!” said Kayla in a phone interview about her grandfather. She continued by saying “We enjoy the freedoms that people like my grandfather helped keep for us.” When the opportunity came up to be a part of the Veteran’s Annual Cruise Night festivities, it was a no brainer for Kayla. Her father was all for supporting the event, but he was concerned that the car wasn’t pretty enough since it had yet to be repainted (Dave is a perfectionist when it comes to race equipment). Kayla pushed to take part in the event, and like most 13 year old girls, she got her way. She didn’t have to whine or complain like most kids do, nor did she throw a temper tantrum or pout. She explained how important the event was to her, seriously, that was all it took. So, on August 13th the family and the car (still not repainted) made the trip to Tilton to be a part of the Veteran’s Annual Cruise Night. Kayla had a great time showing the car to anyone that wanted to see it, and spending time with some fantastic people. She was able to see some incredible cars and trucks, but more importantly she got to meet some amazing people. When she was asked about her favorite part of the day she said meeting some of the veterans that served the country was the best part. Kayla does her best to remember everyone she meets, but she knows that’s impossible. However she will never forget the service that has been provided to this country by our veterans. “I’ll remember them every time I look at the American Flag.” So do we Kayla, so do we. | | |

| Maine Indoor Karting is getting used to a name that so many drivers and fans of karting in southern NH have already gotten used to. That name is Kayla Cazares. On a recent trip to Maine Indoor Karting, Kayla shattered the old track record for the under 150 pound class, posting a 22.447 second lap. Thousands have tried to break the previous record, Kayla was the one that accomplished it. Main Indoor Karting has awarded Kayla with an alternative prize based on her being classified as a minor (or junior) but racing in the adult bracket. It's a situation that maine Indoor Karting had never had to deal with before. Kayla has vowed to return and beat her own record yet again. We'll have to see what the staff at MIK does when she shatters her own record. Maine Indoor Karting provides all of the race karts to prevent cheating of any type. The times are recorded by electronic timing systems, eliminating the potential for human error. All of this adds up to one simple fact that the rest of us already knew... This 13 year old young lady is FAST. Congrats Kayla, another record to hang with your FIVE consecutive championships! | | |
