Cazares Racing dedicates Lap 22 in memory of Taylor - Thursday, January 24, 2013

There are few people that come into our lives that make an impression on us. One of these people for myself is Laura Gauthier. She is the NH Territory Manager for Liberty Mutual. She always comes into our office with a warm smile and with a positive attitude. You never hear her complain, she just keeps going. I would like to share her story;Laura and her husband adopted two children from Korea a boy and a girl. She named her little girl Taylor and stated she was her "little hell on wheels" and loved everyone. At the age of 6, a full of life little magical princess, who one day did not feel well, continued to get worse. The doctors finally discovered she had a tumor in her pelvis(which actually broke her pelvis). The cancer was throughout her body without any warning signs. Taylor had one wish, to have a Princess Room. With the help of Make A Wish, her pediatrician and an artist they made it happen for. Laura stated,"I will never forget the magic they brought to her." Taylor passed away within 60 days of being diagnosed. Laura also stated that her daughter was her hero. In her short 6yrs on earth she taught her lessons that are too numerous to list. Her son is her will to truly move on each and every day and Taylor reminds her one way or another each day she is all around. "Take every moment you have with your children and truly treasure it" says, Laura. Thank you Laura for letting us share your story, you truly are a remarkable woman! Cazares Racing will be dedicating lap 22 in memory of Taylor in the DT100 Make A Wish Race on March 2nd.

Hard work and Determination pays off! - Friday, June 29, 2012

What a proud moment for Mom & Dad as Kayla was accepted to graduate 1yr early as a Junior in 2013. Since the age of 7 Kayla has always known how important education was. As parents we used racing as a leverage for Kayla to maintain her good grades and needless to say we never had to tell her she had to give up racing as she always brought home the good grades. For 9yrs now Kayla has sacraficed so many things in order to race and keep her grades up. She missed many friends B-day parties,Dances, Family events as she was either on the race track or spending her weekends doing homework.Since her freshman year Kayla has taken honor courses  as she was determined to graduate early. Thank you to the teachers of Goffstown High School for being great teachers and challenging Kayla. As for you Kayla, Mom and Dad are so proud of  who you have become and we are so excited to see what is in store for your future! Love Mom & Dad 22

Girl Power - Wednesday, June 27, 2012

"You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, 'I have lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.' You must do the thing you think you cannot do." ~ Eleanor Roosevelt. Picture of Kayla with crew member Amber. Both girls have shown that there is NOTHING a girl cannot do. Thanks Amber for all your help and your support!

The girl with size 4 shoe puts the pedal to the metal! - Monday, June 18, 2012

Team 22  could not be more proud of the #22 Super Street Driver. It was Kayla's best finish ever in her stock car. She finished 4th in her heat. She started on the outside poll in her feature and hung on the outside for a while but then was pushed back to fourth as the inside row went by. With only a few laps to go the caution came out. Kayla started fourth her start was not the greatest however one lap went by and she past the 3rd place car. We were so excited as we thought she was going to get another 3rd place finish. Kayla shocked us all as right after the white flag came out with one lap to go she past the second place car coming out of turn two. They raced side by side to the checkered flag where Kayla beat him by inches! Kayla stated the win was for Father's Day for Dad, Grampy, and her crew.

Driver with a big heart and determination - Monday, June 11, 2012

After having trouble with our engine the past few weeks all went well in practice and the engine was great. Kayla did not have heats this week as she had double features. She was driven into the first feature finishing 4th. In the second feature she was driven over(the other car got air). We don't know how Kayla kept the car going. She could not see at one point as her panels were flapping. There was a caution and Kayla  came in. Thanks to her speedy crew she was able to start before the green came out. With duct tape and all Kayla ended up finishing 3rd! Kayla is currently 3rd in points.

Engine pulled out of car again! - Thursday, May 31, 2012

The crew had a tough week as they had to pull out Kayla's engine again. We thought the problem was fixed as the Super St did not overheat in 1st practice. Second practice Kayla had a hard time starting her car and when she left the pit area Dad noticed some water on the ground. The car kept getting harder and harder to start. Kayla had a great heat race finishing 3rd. She ended up finishing in 5th for the feature as car got really tight and losing power. The head gaskette was blown. More hours spent again removing engine. Thanks to our crew for the endless nights..we could not do this without you!

5/19 Race car was not great and overheated still ended with a 4th place finish - Monday, May 21, 2012

Kayla's car was not quite as good as first race however she managed to handle it along with it overheating. She avoided a wreck right in front of her which could have ended up being a big distaster. Kayla still managed to get a 4th place finish. Great job Kayla!

There is no I in Team! - Monday, May 07, 2012

What a great start to the season as Kayla finished 4th in opening race night. She made some great passes and showed that patience pays off. She was held up for a few laps from a car in front of her however because of the great amount of respect she had for the driver she held off passing him until she could get a clean run. One of the track officials shook her hand and said what a classy little driver she was. We could not have done this with all the help from our crew. Thanks Mark, Gary, Paul, Amber, Grampy and Debbie!

A day for heroes

Veteran_Parade.jpgKayla has always been a fan of her grandparents, just as much as they are fans of her. In fact Kayla holds her grandparents in very high regard. She always has and she always will.

The fact that Grampy Cazares is a veteran of two wars makes him that much more special to Kayla. “He’s not just a hero to me, he’s a hero to America, that’s cool!” said Kayla in a phone interview about her grandfather. She continued by saying “We enjoy the freedoms that people like my grandfather helped keep for us.”

When the opportunity came up to be a part of the Veteran’s Annual Cruise Night festivities, it was a no brainer for Kayla. Her father was all for supporting the event, but he was concerned that the car wasn’t pretty enough since it had yet to be repainted (Dave is a perfectionist when it comes to race equipment). Kayla pushed to take part in the event, and like most 13 year old girls, she got her way. She didn’t have to whine or complain like most kids do, nor did she throw a temper tantrum or pout. She explained how important the event was to her, seriously, that was all it took.

So, on August 13th the family and the car (still not repainted) made the trip to Tilton to be a part of the Veteran’s Annual Cruise Night.

Kayla had a great time showing the car to anyone that wanted to see it, and spending time with some fantastic people. She was able to see some incredible cars and trucks, but more importantly she got to meet some amazing people.

When she was asked about her favorite part of the day she said meeting some of the veterans that served the country was the best part. Kayla does her best to remember everyone she meets, but she knows that’s impossible. However she will never forget the service that has been provided to this country by our veterans. “I’ll remember them every time I look at the American Flag.”

So do we Kayla, so do we.

Another record falls to Cazares

Maine Indoor Karting is getting used to a name that so many drivers and fans of karting in southern NH have already gotten used to. That name is Kayla Cazares.

On a recent trip to Maine Indoor Karting, Kayla shattered the old track record for the under 150 pound class, posting a 22.447 second lap. Thousands have tried to break the previous record, Kayla was the one that accomplished it.

Main Indoor Karting has awarded Kayla with an alternative prize based on her being classified as a minor (or junior) but racing in the adult bracket. It's a situation that maine Indoor Karting had never had to deal with before. Kayla has vowed to return and beat her own record yet again. We'll have to see what the staff at MIK does when she shatters her own record.

Maine Indoor Karting provides all of the race karts to prevent cheating of any type. The times are recorded by electronic timing systems, eliminating the potential for human error. All of this adds up to one simple fact that the rest of us already knew... This 13 year old young lady is FAST.

Congrats Kayla, another record to hang with your FIVE consecutive championships!
