Hard work is something that comes naturally to Kayla, she's been doing it all of her life. She has seen how hard her parents have worked to provide her with the things that she has and she has a deep sense of appreciation for the things that she receives. To put it plainly, Kayla demands nothing, expects less, and appreciates everything.

As a student Kayla is just as hard working as she is on the track. She has an understanding in the importance of her education. While in school Kayla is focused and well behaved, displaying the patience and grace that she has displayed on the track for years. As her parents have always said "If your grades suffer, your racing will suffer more."

Many kids may look at Kayla and believe that she's a "rich kid" or that she has everything she could ever want, but the fact is Kayla is just like every other kid with hard working parents that love her. That's a fact that she has never lost sight of. She doesn't like cliques or social divisions. Kayla approaches every person in the way that she would like to be approached. She believes in standing up for what's right and defending those that are in need of defending.

Her family is extremely important to Kayla. Several years ago she lost her grandfather, with whom she had a close relationship. "I miss him every day" Kayla said in an interview "I'll always miss him. I just hope I make him proud". Kayla, you make everyone that knows you proud every day.
